1. As an album, it doesn't per se connect as a unified piece -- the final track listing comes from a variety of recording sessions with a large number of producers and remixers, including Robin Guthrie, Stephen Hague, John Fryer, and Ralph Jezzard. As a collection of mostly killer tracks, though, this is mighty fine.

3. Being released in , Whirlpool can be considered an original shoegaze album. The signature muffled vocals and walls of sound approach are all there, but Chapterhouse create a more upbeat sound than their counterparts. The overall feel is a little less dreamy, and more upbeat. A few of these songs rank as my favorite shoegazing songs of all time.

6. With this EP Chapterhouse fully took things to the heights, creating a stone-cold early nineties classic. Though "Pearl" is also pointlessly featured in an edit at the end, the full glory is here at the start -- this longer version did not in fact appear on Whirlpool, making it the one to tellahicividesaxkamigdevilge.xyzinfoing a John Bonham sample for appropriate oomph and combining it with shimmering, beautiful.
